Rebecca Hartman-Baker
Biography
Rebecca Hartman-Baker at the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) is responsible for training efforts at NERSC, which supports more than 5,000 scientists from around the world. Rebecca was Senior Supercomputing Application and Development Specialist at iVEC in Australia, a role that included leading and developing training for users of iVEC’s petascale supercomputing resources. She began her career at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where she was most recently the Computational Scientist Liaison Task Lead before joining iVEC in July 2012. Her expertise lies in the development of efficient algorithms for massively parallel systems. She has experience working with application scientists in a wide variety of fields (including chemistry, nuclear physics, and logistics) to optimize their codes for leadership-class supercomputers. As a postdoctoral research associate at ORNL she developed the initial implementation of load balancing in the R&D 100 award-winning software suite Multiscale Adaptive Numerical Environment for Scientific Simulation (MADNESS).
