Luiz Carlos Irber Jr

Biography
Luiz Irber is a Computer Science PhD student and Graduate Student Researcher at University of California, Davis, working at the Data Intensive Biology lab, under Dr. C. Titus Brown orientation. Luiz research focus is on streaming algorithms for biological data analysis. He is a primary developer of the khmer software package, written in Python and C++, and a Data Carpentry and Software Carpentry certified instructor. Prior to joining UC Davis, Luiz worked as a software engineer at the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research, developing tools and maintaining workflows for climate modeling simulation on a Cray XE6 system and also introducing software engineering processes (like continuous integration, testing and version control) to researchers.
